EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Early Head Start and Head Start

These programs support the school readiness of young children from low-income families and/or with disabilities. In addition to education services, children and their families are provided with with health, nutrition, social and other services. Relationships are built with enrolled families that support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, and connections to peers and community. Our services are responsive to each child and family’s ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage.

Early Head Start services are available to pregnant women, infants and toddlers until they reach three years old and are ready to transition to Head Start which serves ages three and four.

Pre-Kindergarten

Georgia’s Pre-K Program is a lottery funded educational program for Georgia’s four-year olds to prepare children for kindergarten. Pre-K services are available in Ware and Coffee counties.

ETS is an outreach and early intervention program that serves middle and high school students. The primary goal of the ETS program is to motivate and encourage low-income, potential first-generation college students to graduate from high school and enroll in and graduate from a post-secondary educational institution.

Explore Careers – work one-on-one with our counselors to plan your educational future.  Aptitude assessments and career exploration will set you on the right path.

Choose a college – Learn which post-secondary options are available for your chosen career. Participate in field trips with other students to get a first-hand glimpse at college life.

Pay for college – Let us help you navigate the admissions and financial aid process. Our counselors will make sure deadlines are met, paperwork is complete, and no scholarship opportunity is missed.

FAMILY LITERACY

Literacy at all levels is essential for strong families. From pre-literacy activities for infants and toddlers, to support in being your child’s most important teacher, to financial literacy skills, we’ve got you covered.

Child Literacy – Promoting literacy in a fun and engaging way helps young children develop a love for reading. Our education program incorporates songs, crafts, cooking and other activities to teach children that reading is fun.

Powerful Parenting – We take a family-centered approach to building nurturing parenting skills while incorporating literacy strategies for the whole family. Instruction includes topics such as ages and stages of development, positive discipline, and dealing with emotions.

Financial Literacy – Learn how to plan, budget and save so that your family can thrive. Increasing your financial management skills will build a firm foundation for your family.
